תורה בביתו Torah B'Veiso
When illness or age makes the walk to shul impossible, the Torah comes home instead. We bring a sefer Torah to the house — at no cost — so you never have to miss a minyan.
The gemach exists for genuine need: a household where someone truly cannot get to shul.
- Illness
- Recovery from surgery
- Limited mobility
- Hospice care

A minyan should not be the thing that's out of reach.
Illness and age take enough. They shouldn't also take away hearing the Torah read and davening with a minyan.
A father who hasn't heard kriah since the surgery. A mother in hospice at home, with children who want to daven beside her. A neighbor whose walk to shul became impossible one winter and never became possible again.
We keep sifrei Torah for exactly these situations. We don't ask for medical records or a letter from anyone — only that the need is real, so that a Torah is there when the next family calls. Pick a week below and we'll bring one.
הוֹן־וָעֹשֶׁר בְּבֵיתוֹ
וְצִדְקָתוֹ עֹמֶדֶת לָעַד
Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. Tehillim 112:3
The Gemara asks how wealth can stay in a man's house while his righteousness goes out into the world and endures. Rav Huna and Rav Chisda differ. One says it is a person who learns Torah and teaches it. The other says:
זה הכותב תורה נביאים וכתובים ומשאילן לאחרים
One who writes Torah, Nevi'im and Kesuvim, and lends them to others. Kesubos 50a

Torah in his house
Just 3 easy steps.
Choose your week
Pick a delivery date on the calendar. Loans run one week, and the calendar only shows dates where a Torah is actually free for the whole week.
Agree to the terms
A short list of conditions covering care of the sefer Torah, where it will be kept, and who is responsible for it while it's with you.
We deliver and pick up
We bring the sefer Torah to your home and pick it up when the loan ends.
Kept properly, and fully covered.
A sefer Torah leaving the aron kodesh is a serious matter. We treat it as one.
A proper place
The sefer Torah needs a designated room used respectfully for the week.
One responsible adult
Each loan is recorded to a named adult in the household. It's a formality, and it protects the family as much as the Torah.
Inspection
Every Torah is checked by a sofer as needed, so a Torah that reaches your home is one you can lein from without question.
Insurance
Each sefer Torah is insured by the gemach, in transit and in the home.
Transport
We deliver and collect ourselves, in a manner consistent with kavod haTorah. You are never asked to move a sefer Torah yourself.
Sh'eilos

Choose a week.
Loans run one week at a time. Greyed-out dates mean every Torah is already committed for that week. We deliver within the Five Towns and Far Rockaway only.

Conditions of the loan
Taken one at a time. Please read each one before accepting it.
A sefer Torah is reserved for you. Keep this reference — we'll ask for it if you call about the loan. There is nothing further to do; we'll be in touch before delivery to agree a time.
Every Torah here was given by someone.
100% of your donation goes towards writing and maintaining the Sifrei Torah. All other functions are volunteer and we incur no staff expense.
Give to the gemach
Dedicate it
Optional. We'll confirm the wording with you before anything is engraved or embroidered.
